The Sun enters Aquarius today from Capricorn. Now that we have learned the lessons in stability and deep commitment to complete that which we can chisel to masterful refinement, it is time to throw off the chains that bind. To cut away all that is consistent, predictable and honorable and walk towards the unknown and the unconventional. We have completed the great race, followed the breadcrumbs to completion and now we move away from solidity into that which can be burned into ether. Like the passing wind that shifts from moment to moment, we surrender to the whims of spontaneous uncertainty. What if we left all that we have known and turned the dial to reveal a new way to see, perhaps leading to some new invention or perspective not considered? If donkeys could fly, well maybe they can?!?!? How do we evolve beyond that which we contain ourselves within? What expectations of ourselves are old and moldy? The Aquarian energy is affiliated with the Genius, the Madman and the Revolutionary. For the spark of something truly ingenious requires a departure from normative expectations. Aquarius is here to rock that boat, to color outside the lines, and march to their own beat. We all have this energy to some extent or we would just be clones of each other. To risk our own individuality and celebrate that we are “unique” is the essence of this sign. The sign also has an uncanny sense of looking at the whole enchilada and taking a step back to view it from above or below to infer what parts have come together to concoct the creation. Aquarian perception is quite adept as a mental sign that can be detached just enough to know what may really be going on when all balls are in the air. As the Aquarian needs to unleash the need for others approval, it can find the freedom necessary to be the “oddball”. Now that does not mean oddball for oddball’s sake, but rather letting go of the tendency to behave in ways that are based on acceptance. If the Aquarian reaches too far, it may fall into a treacherous area where the line between sanity and madness begin to blur. It is a fine line, one that needs to be walked to find the nuggets of brilliance and improvisation, but not get lost in the chaotic and dysphoric. As we find the Moon in Gemini today, we may feel our hearts take on a spontaneity and curious inquiry into matters of the heart. Also an air sign like Aquarius, we may feel a swiftness and willingness to shift with changing directions. It is a time to be mentally inspired, giving in to what mental chatter may keep the inquiry alive. While we have this flexibility in our emotions, we may be open to the diversity of life, inspired by the unpredictable, the potential of it all. With Jupiter and Venus in mutable signs tensely prodding each other and the Moon, we may find we want to be social and in search of the greater meaning but we can rest assured that holding anything too tightly is futile as the energetic remains malleable. Take the next 30 days to break down any hardened walls that are no longer serving the individual YOU.

Today the Moon enters Capricorn on its way to meet up with the Sun creating New Moon tomorrow. Capricorn is the hard-worker, the 3rd and last Earth sign of the Zodiac. As the progression from Taurus “oh, I have a body!” to Virgo “look at all the skills I can perfect”, we find Capricorn “now look at what I can master and bring forth from the wisdom I have gained”. Capricorn is affiliated with the Archetypes of the Wise Elder, the Sage, and the Hermit. Rather than performing in the world for the praise and admiration of others, it can be self-directed and satiated by its own voracity towards achievement. Through catalyzing the grounded, ancient wisdom achieved through patient, steadfast commitment, the Capricorn becomes very stable, sturdy and noble. Like a weathered penny, that may show some signs of wear, it harnesses this exposure to the passing of time and reflects a quality not gleaned when shiny and new. For we just cannot know certain things without experience, it is the maturation process and no other sign knows this better than Capricorn. This awareness of perspective and being able to wait and plod along on what may seem to be insurmountable goals is possible through this foresight. If Capricorn veers from its internal compass and proceeds aimlessly, seeking validation in the world like a child, it will feel lackluster. The goal is to build and become their own source of integrity. As the Moon moves into Capricorn this morning, we may feel a sense of rooted necessity. We may feel we want to review the goals we made at New Years, the year ahead, and why we are getting up in the morning. We can harness this industrious energy to get our feet moving in the direction of our resolutions. Mars is stimulating this effort as he recently moved into Scorpio which is one of the signs ruling Scorpio. Mars, the will, the drive, feels at home here, but is not keen to be superficial or frivolous, for it is time to get to the heart of the matter and push forth with some intensity. As the Sun in Capricorn is visiting with Pluto, we find a further emphasis of this theme of “getting serious” and “getting real”. With Mercury’s recent movement backwards or “retrograde”, there can be a sense of mental confusion or things just not flowing along in our daily lives as we expect from traffic jams to computer glitches. This is a time to go inward, tap in to what may be trying to get your attention internally. With Mercury in Aquarius today, we have an opportunity to see the overall perspective or the “big picture” if we can calm ourselves and listen. Tomorrow Mercury will move into Capricorn stabilizing some of the mental chatter. We may find we have to deal with some of that which we don’t want to look at, but with the steady force of Capricorn, if we stay the course and keep putting one foot in front of the other with the knowledge that “Rome was not built in a day”, we can move beyond our insecurities and fears, and build our masterpiece.
