The first New Moon of 2017 is today and it is in the sign of Aquarius at 8 degrees, 15 minutes. Aquarius is all about being authentic to yourself as a unique individual. There is a part in all of us that yearns to let go of the prescribed identity from our parents, society, or anyone who appears to influence our identity. As humans, we tend to care about what others may think of us and also look to “what are the Mr. and Mrs. Jones doing?” to try to navigate the many life choices that arise in the lifetime. With Aquarius energy, we are advised to source within and determine our destiny based on what is true for us. This may or may not receive the approval of others and could even cause others to be shocked or rejecting of our expression as it seems unusual or uncanny. But we are all truly unique. Astrological charts are very unique, as the planetary lineup changes moment by moment. We have our own spark of ingenuity that serves to bring forth evolution and progress to ourselves and the world around us. If Isaac Newton had stayed the course of conventional thought, he would not have invented the light bulb. Allowing his mind to suspend known reality, he had a vision of what could be possible. He carried forth his ideas to fruition, leaving mankind a beautiful gift. So, dear friends, as we set our sights on what new seeds we want to plant, what comes to mind? If you let go of all felt limitations and you allow your mind to receive inspiration from the greater intelligence within you, what do you know? What seems crazy to the world, and perhaps so strong it you it just won’t go away? How are you feeling called to express yourself? WE need each and everyone’s ‘thinking outside the box’ to build a better future for humanity. Dig deep and let your essence be part of the way forward.

Full Moon in Cancer This is the Moon’s hometown- Cancer. Cancer is the embodiment of the Great Mother, the one who gives love, feels emotion and protects and nurtures the family. The image of the Crab, with its hard shell and claws, as it rolls with the tides and grows, expanding its heart when it senses safety. The shell of protection that it clings to today, will be cast to the seas when it no longer satisfies the emotional needs or is outgrown. We experience emotions like waves, tides, that ebb and flow, and shift and change, if we allow for time to pass. Under Full Moon, we know that the emotions can peak as we ride the crest of the wave, only to ebb again once the wave has crashed upon the shore. With the recent movement of all Planets into direct motion, this can be a time of external change. The retrograde motion is retrospective and reminiscent, however when all Planets are DIRECT, there is something that is trying to take shape. Of interest is the 22 degree marker that the FULL moon lands in. We, of course, have the Sun at that degree to make up a “FULL” Moon opposition. The other players include Jupiter, Saturn, little asteroid “Chiron”, and Uranus at 20 degrees (just slightly off as it likes to be unique, but still in the mix). These four Planets (Moon, Jupiter, Uranus, and the Sun) form a box or a Grand Cross in Cardinal energy. Cardinal energy is about initiation. It is the kick-start of new potential. What could be a better way to start the New Year? We can now begin taking steps towards our dreams. As we work with the opposition of Cancer and Capricorn, we find the essence of masculine and feminine, yin/yang energy. Cancer who easily identifies with the softer, nurturing, and emotional side of things whose aim is to value sensitivity and empathy. And Capricorn who easily identifies with having a backbone and a structure to rely on- rational and concrete realism are held in the highest esteem. So how do we balance the rigidity with the fluidity? How do you stay a bamboo blade flexing and bending with the wind, all the while becoming stronger and wiser? We ignite the candle with the courage to break out from the pack (Uranus in Aries), really letting our feelings in (full Moon in Cancer), stimulating our desire relate to one another from a place of balanced give and take (Jupiter in Libra), and invigorating our desires for an endgame, a goal, a point to it all that can be made in this life (Sun in Capricorn). All of this and Saturn pushing us to keep believing in the possibility of it all, and to have discipline and optimism that good things will come if you put the pieces into place. As we listen to our hearts, we may begin to see the shape of the parts needed to move in the direction of our highest purpose. With Mars in Pisces, the dream can be quite unlimited now as it tries to incorporate everything. As Mercury moves into Capricorn tomorrow, we may have more organized thoughts assisting us to make our next move with wisdom of a Sage. We currently have Neptune, Mars, Moon, Chiron and the South Node of the Moon all in the sign of Pisces. Here is a song that captures some of the mood of Pisces:
In a world that's changing I'm a stranger in a strange land There's a contradiction And I'm stuck here in between Life is like a desert An a oasis to confuse me So I walk this razors edge Will I stand or will I fall? Turn a blind eye, try to pretend that nothing is what it seems Torn between the impulse to stay or running away from all this madness Who am I To decide what should be done If this is the end then let it come Let it come Let it rain Rain all over me Like the tide, let it flow Let it wash all over me Over me Let it wash all over me Over me Let it wash all over me All of my illusions Could be shattered in a second You could thread a needle with a teardrop from my eyes It's a cruel injustice to be witness to the things I see Looking for the answer when it's right in front of me From the Tower of Babylon where nothing is what it seems Gonna watch the sun going down I'm not gonna run from all this sadness Who am I To decide what should be done If this is the end then let it come Let it come Let it rain Rain all over me Like the tide, let it flow Let it wash all over me Who am I To decide what should be done If this is the end then let it come Let it come Let it rain Rain all over me Like the tide, let it flow Let it wash all over me Over me Let it wash all over me Over me Let it wash all over me Read more: Madonna - Wash All Over Me Lyrics | MetroLyrics Neptune is the formless, flowing, mystical, and what can seem the almost undefinable experiences in our world. It references the dharmakaya, Goddess, Allah, God, Buddha, and the many other deities that tap into the realm of Spirit and the unseen world. We go there each night as we dream. In moments of just being, without an agenda~ when we find ourselves drifting into connection with the outbreath, and exhale “AHHHHHH”. Many may refer to these moments as meditation. We step into imagination and illusion. Creative inspiration can come from these transcendent places. The birthing of compassion abounds as we feel no separation between ourselves and everything. The Sun is heading closer to Pluto in Capricorn by the day. In Capricorn, we meet the Master Builder, the Wise Elder, and the Pack Leader. As we set our goals for the New Year, Capricorn is happy to be on board with this type of planning and contemplation to get moving towards the end game. Mercury, who is currently retrograde, makes a sign change from Sagittarius to Capricorn. Communications in Sagittarius may have been expressive and jovial without much filter. Now we may find ourselves pausing a little more before we speak, and trying to use words efficiently. Capricorn is more calculated and deliberate in its approach as it recognizes that where you put your energy, things manifest. What is most interesting is that you end up having most Planets in Water and Earth. Saturn and Uranus are in Fire, trying to stimulate each other. Jupiter is the only air bringer at the moment. With all the water, it is a good time to allow things to ‘wash over you’, and flow. At the same time, you want to be inspired to go your forge your own path (Uranus) and structure your foundation of belief (Saturn). Earth stabilizes the currents and asks us to be responsible for creating our future. |
