Eclipses come in cycles called ‘Saros’ and occur every 18 years.   The Eclipse on Feb 26 2017 is part of Saros 140, and the last time we experienced this cycle that began in the year 1512 was Feb 16, 1999.  In order to predict what type of outward event may happen in your life, you can look at life themes for the year 1999.  Eclipses are marked by specific event dates, yet their impact and occurrence timeframe should be broadened to gather the relevant characteristics of the timeframe.  Think back to that time in your life for relevant life themes.  The next time this Saros cycle occurs is March 9, 2035.

This Solar Eclipse occurs at 8 degrees, 12 minutes of Pisces.  When the Moon and Sun collide, we will be in ‘Pisces Pie’.  The Sun, our identity, life force, vitality will mesh with the Moon- our emotions, our internal processes, our mood.  Pisces invites the symbol of the 2 fishes swimming in opposite directions, demonstrating the fluidity and changeability of this sign.  This can also depict the connection to the mystical, dreamy realms with one fish in this world and one swimming among the heavens.  Pisces being the last of the 12 signs is a transitional sign, ending a greater cycle, and returning to the beginning once again in Aries.  So in this space, we “let go” of our need to control and determine our life outcomes, and we allow for synchronicity and tuning in to our deepest knowing to speak.   Pisces can be a lot about the not doing.  In a world where we foster activity and effort to resolve life’s challenges, sitting still can be torturous.   We can find these moments as we go to sleep at night.   When we still ourselves, what is there?  The Planet Mercury which governs communication will move into the sign of Pisces on February 26th, helping to assist insights that may come in the form of being carried away by music, an in breath that feels completely peaceful, or beauty that stops you in your tracks.  Pisces identifies with these moments of trance, moments of emotional fulfillment with a sensory experience of being connected to just about everything.   It governs non-ordinary reality such as we meet in the dream time.  Where you can walk up walls and fly. This includes going beyond the rational to invite the imagination to govern all possibilities.  It also invites forgiveness to the table, as the development of compassion and release serves the Pisces ability to stay fluid and free from attachment.

With Saturn staying strong at 26 degrees of Sagittarius, we are tasked this year with holding true to our truths.  We will have opportunities to strengthen our convictions.  Mars and Venus are in balsalmic phase to each other, signifying an ‘endings’ signature, however with both of them being in Aries, we are simultaneously bombarded by ‘fresh start’ energy.   It can feel like you have the energy to move forward, yet, need to tie up some loose ends as well. Uranus is right there in the mix igniting those desires.  We are cautioned here to pay attention to flashes of awareness, but not to throw caution to the wind as we know these two dynamos can also combust if we push too hard.  Jupiter in Libra opposing this Aries trifecta is trying to keep the peace.

Pisces:  Feeling as though you want to drift and live in the land of your dreams?  All things may be registering a bit confusing at the moment, but hold on as something is emerging about who you really are.  You are being tasked with putting yourself first, and having the courage to be on the front lines.  This may feel nerve-racking, but remember to tune into to your allies on the other side for guidance and support.

Aquarius: Lots of ideas may be taking shape in your mind as you feel a push to write, yell, or have long conversations discussing the details with anyone who will listen.  You feel compelled to take care of your needs first and may find music or coloring books help you settle in.  You may feel rooted by providing support in your community for social causes.

Capricorn:  Your focus seems to be on your resources and what you can do to make yourself feel more secure.  With advice from your gurus to let go what does not serve you anymore, you start to move in the direction of your dreams.   As no stranger to discipline, you may find as you release old patterns, you find the traction you desire.

Sagittarius:  It seems to be all about your community right now and forming alliance where you can.  You have so much to say but find that coming from a compassionate perspective seems to push your agenda further.  It may all feel like an uphill battle, but allowing your voice an avenue of expression serves all of mankind.  

Scorpio:  Issues stemming from your where you have come from and your family of origin seem to be in your awareness.  The question now is how you want to authentically express yourself today with all that you have learned.   While there is a need to speak your truth, you are looking at the child within for how to harness the most power moving forward.   A desire to serve others may be taking hold.

Libra: Although it seems important to find balance in your relationships, you are really putting efforts into making sure you don’t get lost in the shuffle.  Although coming from a place of discerning what you do want and what you don’t want is on the front burner, you find that the more you go with the flow; your deepest wants have space to emerge.

Virgo:  Although it may feel uncomfortable for you, you may feel called to shrug off those typical routines and chill out with friends.  You may feel compelled to watch the sunset or a catch a movie with a loved one.  Something is nudging you to make some space for others in your life.  This provides a deep reflection of what can be harnessed when we let go of our rigid boundaries, perhaps seeing the ‘oneness of everything’.

Leo: It’s time to get a little more serious with the depths of who we are.  While fun and games do entertain us, we are craving more intimate connections with those who can tap into our hearts.  If we are able to allow ourselves to trust in something greater, and a world of infinite potential, we can find the courage to offer our passion to the world.

Cancer:  Cancers may be grappling with the meaning of everything and feel stretched to find the answer that will help soothe the world’s pain.  The suffering that we see is causing us to want to take care of our brothers and sisters, to end the suffering of all beings.   Crabs may find they are taking inventory of what they do know, and coming up with a strategy to that includes forgiveness, compassion and healing.  Inspiring others with their message serves to unite the hearts of many seeking leadership.

Gemini: Leading and offering your vision of how we can make the world a better place gives others the faith to keep moving forward.  While it may seem like emotions are at the forefront of any initiative, you realize we must let our intuition take the lead at this time.  Ideas may seem impossible but can all lead to bringing people together in unity.

Taurus: It’s all about the groups and places you frequent to feel a sense of belonging.   These places may be shifting as you try to discern what is truly serving your growth and where you may be just depleting your reserves.  Having the courage to let go of parasitic influences allows for the inner peace you so desire.

Aries: Badda boom badda bing! You may feel a fire burning within while simultaneously needing to let go of so much baggage.  It is helpful to remind yourself that Rome wasn’t built in a day and as you sort through what can stay and what should go, you demonstrate what true leadership looks like and inspire others with your passion and insight.

     Not only will it be Full Moon tonight, but as the Moon is rising in the Eastern Sky at 5:38 PM on the West Coast, it will be eclipsed.  Often Lunar Eclipses will make the Moon appear reddish in color, but this evening it will be a penumbral eclipse casting just a grey shadow.   The red is actually cast from the Earth’s atmosphere but it will not cross that zone this evening, as it would under a total Eclipse.  Eclipses signify changes in our outer world that can be unexpected or not anticipated.  As when the Moon is red or shadowed or obscured, that is different from the norm and our individual reflect this energy.  As above, so below.
     With the Eclipse in Leo, we are called upon to consider the archetypes of the Performer, the Lover, the Artist, and the Child.  All of these images reflect a quality of self-expression that is inherent in this symbol.  Leo is the first sign in the zodiac order that requires reflection from another to do its job. The previous four signs are involved in the development of the self, and now we transition to relating.  Leo, ruled by the Sun, shines brightly its talents, gifts, and creativity out to the world.  When it does this, it loves to see the affect.   Is the audience applauding? Do they have smiles on their faces?
     We all have ways that we express ourselves as individuals.  Children who have not been tainted by criticism or self-judgement play joyously and freely, demonstrating Leo in its highest expression.  If there is no acknowledgement or crowd to applaud the creation, or the offering is received with rejection, we may see the shadow side of Leo.  Leo can turn to narcissism becoming fixated with itself, and as it does not receive the attention it desires, it becomes difficult and overbearing, acting out to getting attention whether positive or negative. In this overwhelming craving for acknowledgement, Leo can lose empathy for others, as it tries to bolster its own lack of self-esteem.  We may correlate a certain public figure that seems to be acting in this manner.
      For all of us, the opportunity is to look within ourselves and if we have been willing and open to showing our creative impulses to the world.  Do we feel free to express ourselves?  When we show our talents, is there a hitch or an expectation we are attached to?  Do we have our own belief in ourselves, our own level of self-confidence that wants to share our joy with the world?  Have we forgotten how to play like children and embrace the spontaneous flow of life?  Do we remember that we are pure love?
     As with all Full Moon Eclipses, the Sun is directly opposite.  With an Aquarius Sun, the message is embrace and be open to being oneself, without the desire to be applauded.  To move past the admiration of others and allow for the richest, strangest, different part of yourself to have a seat at the table.  As a human race, we grow and evolve through taking on new perspectives, challenging the ‘supposed to’ and the ‘should’ type of thinking.  When we have of vision that may seem impossible, and we hold true to our insight, we can embark on unbelievable discoveries.  How can you choose to let go of what you think is not possible, and turn towards the genius inside you? 
   As we meet the Sun and Moon at 22 degrees, we also have other Planets in this degree zone.  Uranus, Ruler of Aquarius, is in Aries at 21 degrees.  Saturn is at 25 degrees Sagittarius and Jupiter is at 23 degrees of Libra.  A fire triangle is formed between Uranus, Saturn, and the Moon.  This lights the flames of passion and impulse, asking us to have courage in what we stand for and EXPRESS it.  Like Madonna sings “You got to express yourself!”  “You know, you know, you’ve got to make him express how he feels and maybe then you’ll know your love is real.”  With Jupiter in the mix, it is wanting us try to be eloquent or considerate of others in our zest for expression, striving towards a balanced, peaceful outcome.
