“I feel the earth move under my feet… I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down” sang Carole King. Today is a day to feel the Earth, the solid ground beneath us that supports our movements and keeps us rooted and fortified. The Moon enters Virgo today, the sign of the craftsperson motivated by using finely honed skills to create “perfection” through patient and organized efforts. With an attitude of humility, the ability to stay on task, happily sorting through details and bringing chaos to order, we create a safe container. As the Moon governs the heart or the emotional landscape, we can remind ourselves of the grounding force that seeks to be of service and use this energy to embrace our strivings toward self-improvement and health. Mars moves from its homeland in Aries to Taurus today. Mars, the God of War, may have been a little feisty and courageous lately with our drive to make things happen. As we know, we need our will, our gumption to get us out of bed in the morning. As the energy shifts to Taurus, the sign of basic animal survival instincts, we may feel less of an impulse to “move ahead at full speed” and “slow down a little” while we check-in with our bodies desires. Do we need more sleep? Are we taking time to savor our food and experience sensory reality and all that make up these incredibly fine-tuned bodies that support us as we move about the world? What do our eyes and ears notice? How does slowing down put us in touch with our body’s needs and can we have the courage to address and follow through with what is expressed?
Mars and the Moon are offering us an opportunity to get grounded. Venus and Pluto are also sitting in earth signs with Venus at home in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn. Venus seeks harmony and in flowing connection to Pluto who wants to transform the unconscious connections to authority. We can choose to stabilize our feet and peer into some of the shadows material relating to our inner- authority and power in our lives. Are we being served by the accepted power structures or can we find a more harmonious balance? Coming up this weekend is a Lunar Eclipse on the Libra/Aries, Relationship/Self polarity. More on this coming soon…

Eclipse starts- 12:41 AM PST BIG day astrologically as we have our final square between Uranus and Pluto at 7:53 PM PST. This is the last of seven squares that began in June of 2012. Squares are formed by 90 degree connections and are interpreted as activating events that can be tense or difficult as well as an opportunity for change. As you can imagine when things come at you from the side where you have limited peripheral view and you may not see it coming, it can shake you up. That is what these two outer Planets, Uranus and Pluto, have been causing collectively and individually. There is nothing wrong with change and in fact, it cannot be avoided, but what is the purpose of these Planets dueling it out? Pluto deals with the psychological realm or the motivations and compulsions of our “psyches” with a particular emphasis on power structures. Pluto was discovered around the time Freud discovered the “unconscious”. It holds the emotional unconscious imprints that can guide our behaviors and feelings. In the sign of Capricorn, it seeks to “transform” our calcified and outdated systems of order and structure that no longer mirror our psychological realities. Collectively this can be like running a fine tooth comb through our monetary and legal systems addressing racial, religious, societal, and gender inequalities that have run their course. Uranus in Aries seeks to offer “breakthrough” experiences that lead the way for a “fresh start”, a new paradigm that is more current with our modern age. Aries is ruled by Mars, the god of War, and as we know we like to avoid war when possible, but the courage of the warrior allows us to be brave and be open to a new way of being, hopefully without violence, on our way to “liberation”. As if these two dynamos did not “spike the punch” enough, Mars is also hanging tight with Uranus in Aries lending to more active energy encouraging the will to step out and be your true self, the authentically real you, non-reliant on traditions, but open to the genius and teachers guiding you from within. It sure sounds like a tall order to me as we don’t want to just “throw the baby out with the bathwater”, especially when we are not even sure about the needs and desires of the new “baby”. One thing is for sure, the baby is here. How we will nurture and care for this new infant has yet to unfold in the coming years after these energies dissipate in the galaxy within and without. The birthing of a new era is afoot. We are no longer who we thought we were as things are being shifted and catapulted. How will you adapt to and approach the change? What routine do we want to follow to grow the baby into a healthy adult? Meditation and connection to some spiritual consciousness is suggested as logical factual reality may not be expansive enough to encapsulate all that is affecting your being. Neptune is in Pisces elevating the antennae connections to spirit. Being true to oneself, letting things fall away that no longer serve you and finding empowering ways to rebuild an authentic and stable foundation will help ease this transformational time of revolution. “Don’t you know it’s going to be all right? All right! All right!”
Mercury moves into the sign of Pisces today and will remain there for most of March. Our communication comes through the element of water. As we know water can carry sonar waves long distances, but the hint at “wave” is a big clue to the Neptunian realm of Pisces. Like children communicating under water in a pool, much is left to hand signals and gestures underwater as our voices pushing air become limited. We are inundated with information from other avenues as we feel the water encapsulate our skin. We swim in melodic flow with the tides. We drift, float, and meander finding that effortless connection through the watery abyss with all that is. Pisces communication can come in the form of symbols, synchronicities, sensations, and the unfolding of creative imagination. As you cannot hold water without some form of container, it just seeps in and connects to whatever is in the environment. The membrane of separation is minimal when we contemplate water, for it just fills up whatever it is granted access to whether conscious or not. As we let the mind swim along in our world, taking the time to slow down and let go of all the calculations and factual logic, we can open to the “waking dream”.
The planetary mix is quite watery and fiery at the moment potentially producing steam if met in the perfect balance. Pisces Sun, Neptune and Mercury can be content with just “being” and taking in the vision and magic of the moment. The active Aries Venus, Mars and Uranus say “let’s do it”, igniting the spark for pushing forward the creative vision. Saturn in Sagittarius met up with the Moon yesterday before getting ready to slow down and move backwards or ‘retrograde’. The Moon carries the knowledge of Saturn’s quest to find the meaning in it all and what is the real truth of our “being-ness”. Are we able to carry our ideals forward and claim our beliefs? Can we have the discipline and commitment to align with our higher truths? Where may we be holding ourselves back and not taking the leap of faith? Saturn will be asking us to contemplate what we know to be true and even go back into Scorpio mid-June to see what we may have missed integrating in our intimate lives. Would anything ever get accomplished without Virgos? This sign is the taskmaster, ruled by the Earth element; it has the stamina and determination to see things through to final completion. And these tasks can be rooted in the mundane, the tedious, the routine and Virgo will be able to “tow the line” and keep plodding along until it is done and done to the best of their ability. Virgo’s vision of perfection and desire to be useful and of service steadies them along their path. Idle hands and minds prove futile and result in neurosis and projected criticism of their environment. The “earthly” Virgins need to manifest something into the physical with the understanding that each step is a building block on the way to perfection. Due to their highly attuned awareness of the potential masterpiece, they can seem picky or fussy to others, but the vision of beauty they hold in their back pocket allows them to keep going under in the face of adversity or distraction.
As of late, the energy of the cosmos has been somewhat dreamy as we had a lot of Piscean energy in the end of February. Under Pisces, we can connect to spirit and the creative imagination, potentially finding bliss in doing nothing but sitting and being aligned with the world around us and within us. As we have spent some time in the ‘daydream’, we can now choose to bring some of those visions, ideas, and inspirations into the physical. We can plant seeds invigorating our commitments, goals and areas of life we want to be more disciplined while holding the “eyes on the prize”. As the Moon is in opposition to Chrion, the wounded healer, we can attempt to “get over ourselves” and realize that although we have wounding, we can put that wounding to good use through compassion for ourselves and others by learning through our challenges and improving our process. Find the area of your life that you may have struggled with “getting just right” and use the healing energy of this Full Moon to allow yourself to pick up the pieces and get back on track. The house the full moon falls in may illuminate where you are being asked keep building your masterpiece. Hiss, crackle and pop today with 6 out of 10 Planets in the element of Fire. Fire ignites; it builds and is active energy. Fire can be very quick as from a little spark, you can start a bonfire. Fire sustains and inspires us as the warmth brought by fire fuels our passions. If it gets too hot, we can get burned. The idea for us is to ride the flames increasing our motivation, will and drive, but not get too feisty that we torch ourselves or others. We have just come out of the water as Venus and Mars moved out of Pisces and that may have seemed drifty and dreamy, so we can use the spark to initiate our endeavors. Today the Leo Moon meets up with Jupiter. The Leo Moon desires to be creative and express that talent before others. As Jupiter can be an “expander”, we may anticipate the potential for great creative inspiration or perhaps intense dramatic tantrums. As Jupiter is opposing Mercury in Aquarius, there could be some communication today that seems to test our ability to play well with others. Aquarius may present a viewpoint that is objective and detached, looking at things from a collective standpoint whereas Jupiter may want an expression of subjective reality. Jupiter says to Mercury, “You may be fast and brilliant and have all these ingenious ideas, but I want to create something magnificent that makes me shine brighter”. As the Moon tags along with Jupiters parade, we may have a tendency to overdo our emotions today so Mercury will aid in keeping things in perspective as life’s events are not always personal nor need to cause drama as our fellow man is often under the same dilemmas. Use your creative intuition and let those goals flourish as the cosmos signals us to get active and light up the world! |
