This New Moon in Gemini is directly joined or “conjunct” Venus at 14 degrees at 8 PM Pacific Time June 4, 2016. While the Sun and Venus do share a close relationship, never getting more than a sign or two away from each other, it is not always that they are so directly aligned except when it is “superior or inferior conjunction”. When this state occurs, we do not see Venus in the sky as the Planet is obscured and overpowered by the radiance of the Sun, and we cannot make a discrepancy as to where Venus begins and the Sun ends. In addition, at this time the Sun may be in-between us and Venus, essentially blocking the Planet from our view. This conjunction is the “superior” which denotes that Venus is behind the Sun from our perspective and furthest from us in the orbit compared to when it is in “inferior” conjunction. This time is referred to in the cycle of Venus as the “death”. As Venus moves closer and closer to the Sun, it strips away any adornments or protections from the great ball of Fire, leaving itself naked and vulnerable, in complete surrender to the molten heat and fire from this life-giving force. Venus has no choice but to release the shadow parts as the light upon them overwhelms and illuminates their attempts to hide in the darkness. The mission that began at Inferior Conjunction around August 14th 2015 is coming to completion. Venus lets go of all it has become and gives the life force to the Sun. This surrender results in an Initiation for Venus. This cycle can be likened to Moon’s phases as the energy builds from New Moon (Inferior Conjunction) and blossoms at Full Moon (Superior Conjunction).
From Earth, we cannot see Venus in the sky as it traverses the unseen realm, be it the upper or lower world, going from death, initiation, and rebirth. Venus will rise again reborn on July 13, 2016 ready to travel as an Evening Star, Hesperus, rising after the Sun until March 2017. For us as individuals, we can correlate this cycle to what missions we embarked on last August. What were our values at that time? What was has occurred in our relationships? What have we created in our lives since last August? Venus was in Leo in August calling the child within to cast its creative nets and express itself. Part of the mission has been to fall in love with the self and develop what flows out naturally when aligned with the Sun and our essence. As we surrender our gifts of creative expression and love to the Sun, knowing that the Sun is the source of all life, we can emerge forever emblazoned by the jolt of light and love to reflect and learn from this point in the journey, wiser and resurrected from any of the follies of youth. At this New Moon in Gemini, we have mental curiosity and youthful inquiries at the helm. Rather than answers, this time can be about asking more questions, not looking for a particular answer as there is no constant greater than change. For in opening to the full spectrum of information in our fields, we can lead to greater awareness of all that is possible. This New Moon is also part of a Mutable Grand Cross as denoted in the red center circle. A cross if formed by at least 4 Planets in opposite poles from each other than forms an X or a cross. This tension is contained in the mutable or changeable elements as Gemini (Sun, Moon, Venus), Sagittarius (Saturn), Virgo (Jupiter), and Pisces (Neptune) form the Grand Cross. If we can imagine a cross top of a spinner and add shifting, flowing water, we can notice the top moving and twisting in the unpredictable sea. This flexibility allows the energy to adjust as it calls forth a time of “change” in our own lives. It may not feel very grounded like the energy that is harnessed during times of “fixity”, but this fluidity can become a great strength as we consider what has served us and what can be released, as we allow ourselves to soften and ebb with the currents. In addition to the death and initiation of Venus, the Grand Mutable Cross, we also have an Earth Trine. Earth is solid and foundational. It roots us. We find Pluto and Mercury flowing in connection to Jupiter to form the 3rd point. If we look at the deep yearnings of the Soul, Pluto in Capricorn, and watch the natural rhythms trying to communicate to us, Mercury in Taurus, we may form beliefs and expand our ways to serve. Jupiter is connected in the Trine as well as the Cross emphasizing its importance right now and Jupiter loves this attention. Jupiter is near the North Node of the Moon which is trying to pull us into the direction of our optimum future. We are reminded through the archetype of the Virgin, that to serve others and be humble heals us. It is about the steps along the way to the ultimate perfection that add meaning to the journey. In Virgo, we hold dear the vision of the craft, chiseling and improving, molding and creating something that is greater than the sum of its parts. In our willingness to fail and revise our method, we walk in line with our emerging wholeness. If we can commit to rooting ourselves in a practice that serves us and our health, we can ride the shifting tides like a body surfer, frolicking and flowing with the dynamic currents as we invite a new perspective to unfold. . Like the bamboo tree that bends but does not break as it stays flexible yet firmly rooted in the earth. Take a moment to set your intentions around being open to the inquiry and the questions, reflecting on what has birthed in the past 10 months, valuing your journey, and call in the wisdom of our guides in the unseen realms to chaperone Venus to rise again and invoke the messages we will find most helpful to us on our next phase of the journey as Evening Stars.
