This New Moon promises to be a bit powerful as we see all Planets engaged in the action. The Moon will be at 23 degrees Cancer, along with the Sun, causing the Moon to be black to us as it is so close that it does not cast a reflection from the Sun to be visible on Earth. Due to the Moon being invisible to the eye, we can interpret this phase as a new birth, a fresh start, a blank canvas of infinite potential. It is the time to plant the seeds, just as we would in the rich, dark soil providing the nourishment to allow for that seedling to blossom and grow to its maximum potential at Full Moon. In addition to the Sun and Moon in Cancer, we also have Mercury and Mars at 14 degrees Cancer. Cancer signifies the archetype of the Mother. As the first water sign in the Zodiac, it embodies the raw, original, unfiltered emotional experience with the agenda to be safe, secure and supported. It is the first experience humans have with feeling and emotional expression, making it govern our sensitive and root landscape of the heart. We cry, we laugh, we love in this space as we ebb and flow with the changing tides. The Moon is in its natural sign as it is ruled by Cancer. As it snuggles up with the Sun, it is an opportunity to coalesce the outward and internal expression of our emotional needs. Like the Sun, Mars also has a more “active” or “yang” expression so the feelings have some forceful push behind them creating an impulse to bring our feelings up. With Mars interplay with Mercury, the ruler of communication, we may find we are compelled to let out the emotional waves verbally as they crash and regenerate on our shores. Just to “up the ante” we have Pluto perfectly poised to oppose Mars and Mercury at 14 degrees. Pluto lives in the psychological or soul level of awareness. Our psyches contain that which we are conscious of and also quite a bit that lives in the “unconscious” influencing our perspectives, beliefs, experiences and reality. When Pluto is connected to another Planet, we can start to unravel the hidden terrain as issues surface. It would be advised to watch what arises for us emotionally during this time and take a breath before reacting. It may be related to the “here and now” or it may be older, deeper wounding rising to be cleansed and healed. We all know there are certain childhood heartbreaks that we carry and through conscious awareness and reality testing may prove to be outdated and untrue in our lives today. With Saturn retrograding back into Scorpio this summer, we are having an opportunity to revisit that which may have built a structure in our psyches during Fall of 2012 to the end of 2014. To offer a level of unconsidered insight, we have Uranus rabble rousing the Sun and Moon to be open and find the courage to break open and begin anew. What structures are valid and which imprints are not of benefit to us anymore? Neptune is in the sign of Pisces flowing support to the Cancer lineup to “feel our feelings” and remember the etheric connective web of universal love that joins us compassionately to each other and all that is.
Find 23 degrees Cancer in your chart and the house it falls in will indicate the area of your life to be influenced at this time. It is the area of your life you can explore your emotional triggers and bring some compassion to your heartspace. Mother yourself here and be gentle as you open your heart. From a numerology perspective, the Sun and Moon at 23 degrees when added together equals 5. In addition 14 degrees Mars and Mercury and Pluto when added together equals 5 too. 5 is dynamic and energetic, independent and a sign that “change is in the air”.

The Moon is in Gemini today which should make for a mentally active and curious heart. Ideas and questions may arise that bring up emotions. Shall I do this or shall I do that? There is the possibility of this and the possibility of that. As we contemplate two varying perspectives, we can appreciate the changeability of life and be inspired by that which feels “fresh” , “vibrant” and “youthful” leading us to feel freedom in the many options. If we try to engage the mystical realms, the dreamscape, the reality beyond the illusion that possesses the cosmic web, we may feel a little lost. As we pry open the lid that illuminates the vast universe, we may become overwhelmed as we see the fabric of connections spreading out and within all that is. Neptune in Pisces prods the Gemini Moon to not just ask question after question for the sake of a simplistic answer and ability to move on. Neptune wants the heart to meander in that which is formless and not containable, to follow the synchronistic bread crumbs to find the answers rather than ask a direct question seeking a “pat answer”. As the great Solar energy is shining in Cancer with it’s cohorts Mercury and Mars, we are offered an opportunity to mother ourselves and others, offer emotional safety, and allow any emotional “gut” sensations to release. As we let the energy flow out, we may experience some insight that allows us to embrace the fluidity and dynamic quality in the “moments” of our lives.
Taurus Moon in the final degrees until 8:17pm PST this evening when she will move into socially adept Gemini. Currently the Moon is standing in opposition to Saturn in Scorpio who is spending a little time “retrograde” or recollecting that which occurred as far back as Fall 2012 when Saturn entered Scorpio. As the Moon in Taurus seeks to engage the senses, and find peace in calm satiated environments, Scorpio energy wants to tear away the comforter and see what lies beneath the fluffy sheets. This forms an interchange with a heart that seeks to rest and an a push to do the hard work of looking at the cobwebs or rusty nails, and alchemize that into parts that will support the deep emotional caverns one may need to traverse. While it may feel as though we are engaged in lessons of what may have gone before, there has also been a birthing of creativity that has either emerged or has seeded during Venus and Jupiter’s’ engagement over the last few weeks. On the West Coast, they have been setting together in what has visually appeared quite magical, kind of like the first glimpse of a newborn or an opening flower. This creation may not follow the rules of what we expect or the form we imagine due to the flowing influence from Uranus, however it wants to uniquely manifest after one has done the hard work of diving into the subconscious terrain with Saturn. We have the Lord of the Underworld, Pluto in Capricorn, interacting with the Sun in Cancer. This emotionally sensitive terrain is just a bit “amped up” with Mars and Mercury also holding court in the sign of the Crab. The energy of Cancer streams from the emotional body, and if we can peel back our protective layers, there may be just pure raw emotion felt as we walk boldly into the undertow. Pluto guides us to the murky waters to soak in the mud and dense places of our soul, with Cancer asking us to please just “release” what may feel like “original” emotional imprinting. Uranus prompts the Sun into an awareness of what is beginning and what can become should one be open to forging a new path that integrates the emotional spectrum inside us. With Mercuries recent movement into Cancer, we have shifted from a more mentally charged communication style to one that is more reflective of our heart space. If our hearts have closed down in protection of prior offenses, we may be challenged to open the floodgates of pure emotion. Should we utilize the courage being offered by Mars’ directive hand, we may find we can unlock some emotional triggers. Neptune joins the bandwagon around “awakening” as he flows a stream of faith and a desire to step into areas of non- reality and believe in the universal connection of love that lives within us all. Capricorn is the older, wiser, disciplined, and structured energy of the zodiac. As we all know, our hearts and emotions are typically not orderly and “timely” in expression, as we can be spontaneously driven to tears or laughter by the fluidity and versatility of our emotional compass. Marry the free flowing river of Cancer with an experienced and organized disciplinarian of Capricorn and we can see there is dichotomy happening here. Cancer, the Sun’s current sign, rules the Moon. As a soft, sensitive, watery, emotional sign it is aptly fit for the motivation to “feel”. As the symbol of the crab, it can roll with the tides, with a layer of protective shell in the waves of our emotional pendulum that swings with the ocean currents. This month the Full Moon will meet up with Pluto, a harbinger of the past, the holder of the soul imprints, the psychological terrain guru. As these psychologically emotional spots become visible under the full moon bloom, taking form and shape, we have the opportunity to work with them either by taking them apart or resurfacing the edges into something more effective that “fits” our current emotional spectrum. With the recent retrograde of Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, moving back into Scorpio, we are offered another opportunity to pillage through the psychological rubbish that still may be festering in our backyard, and needs more worms to break down the compost. Saturn is not always viewed as a helpful ally, however, he truly aims to give us the ability to plod along step by step to make it to the top of the mountain, with the acceptance that it will be hard work and the knowledge that it will be worth it once you see the vista at the peak. With the theme of Saturn in Scorpio, ruled by Pluto, and Pluto in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, we have a storyline developing which delineates “psychological issues” as landmarks on our life maps. If we take the next few months to breakdown these perhaps “stale” constructs by looking at what is potentially undesirable, yet hardy modes of being, and challenge what may have become “ crusty” and outdated, we can find new emotional and psychological freedoms. As our Cancer Sun allies itself with Mars, this can make for a quite dynamically forceful Full Moon. Mars is fuel of passionate and willful action, known for being the drive behind getting things “done”. With our “Solar compass” and “will” heavily enmeshed by our emotional sensitivity and protection in especially what we define as our “family” -those that touch our hearts – whether our family of community or the family that lives under the same roof as us- the ones we “feel” for and would fight to protect at all costs. The Martian passion to stand up and defend our emotional roots, with the worthy opponent being the guard of our psychological territory, Pluto, we can anticipate some weighing in the balance of that which we intuitively feel emotionally charged about and that which has guided us into retrieval of our souls traditions, are they still viable or should they be transformed or reshaped to fit my current feelings? With Venus and Jupiter practically morphed into one due to their close degrees in Leo, we are nudged towards remembering the creative in all of us, the natural unleashing of the pure spark of creation, the naïve, proud, and dynamic expression of oneself before the inner critic had a chance to come to life. Creation is always magical and not usually exactly the way one imagined, however the effect of bringing something into life continues to bring more and more creation as it impacts and expresses the energy into the world. With the stimulating sextile from Neptune which calls upon the god stream, we can co-create with the divine, bringing heaven down to earth.
