The Moon is in Libra today, the sign associated with striving for balance, equality, and peace. Libra aims to land in the middle building harmony in relationships and creating a beautiful, cohesive environment. Venus in Leo is acting like a playful and expressive Lioness who wants to entertain and frolic with the Moon. Venus is being nudged by Saturn and Mars in Scorpio to get out of it's whimsical merriment and "take the bull by the horns". For relating is not only playing, flirting, and joking around, but we must also "grow UP" and engage the real intensity of life, lest we forget the Lions power to rule the jungle and be ferocious. Neptune and Chiron in Pisces are chilling with Saturn and Mars indicating that IF we are willing to look at the deeper truths, the undercurrents and imperfections of our humanity, we can start to imagine a force greater than us that is there to guide and help us along our journey. A force that will help to balance out the challenges of being human, losing the childish temptation to escape into superficiality and frivolity. For the more we avoid embracing all facets of human existence, we will be continuously reminded by the experiences in our lives asking us to accept all that we are, the dark and the light.

Grab your fins, snorkel and mask, for it is a good time to take a deep dive
into the underwater caverns of your life and do some exploring. Fueled by Saturn and Mars hanging tightly together in Scorpio, there is a push towards having the discipline to entertain that which we may often push aside, deny, or have buried. Sometimes referred to as "shadow work" or "therapy" in which we commune with the soul or the deep unconscious. The unconscious is actually about 90 percent of our makeup and an often used depiction is the iceberg with 10 percent of it's mass above the surface to represent the conscious mind and another 90 percent below the surface, not visible to the eye. In part, this is a survival mechanism as some traumas or dark realities are best tucked away until we are prepared to open the dungeon door. In truth, these imprints affect our daily lives whether we are consciously aware or unconscious. When one has the right excavation tools and can begin to sort through the mud, it can bring about profound healing and integration as we reclaim ourselves. The cosmos wants us to do just that at this time. Our Moon is still in hardworking, task oriented Virgo so using discernment to sort through the details is available to you now. Also at play is Mercury in Virgo assisting in the communication and mental processing of these memories. The Sun is in Virgo also fueling the fires of self- improvement. Virgo wants to sort and filter through what is coming up from our souls consciousness, taking what is useful and valid, and discard the stale, outdated, ways of being that may be holding us back. Chiron and Neptune in Pisces opposite the Virgo energy reminds us that we can heal, embrace faith, and open our imagination to the infinite universe of possibility. For in the shadows lies our greatest opportunity for healing. The shadows are a gift as they point us in the direction towards greater happiness and light if we will have the courage to look under the covers. Spend some time meditating or observing themes coming up for you right now and see if you can source back the true root of the issue. Get in a curious process with yourself and challenge your accepted reality. It may be uncomfortable but the rewards can alter a lifetime. Virgo New Moon
This New Moon is in Virgo, associated with the Virgin. What is a Virgin? We all are familiar with the Virgin Mary. The individual is called a “virgin” if they are not experienced, particularly in the sexual realm. It can be broadly used to reference any behavior or event in which the individual has just never tried. They may be called newbie, amateur, beginner, neophyte, or baby. There can be a level of excitement as well as fear when one is about to try something new. So Virgins are pure. With purity comes humility and a willingness to serve. To have a pure heart that is not driven by a reckless ego, one can open to the heart of service. To help your fellow human without an expectation of anything in return is true service. In service, we are helping to make something happen that benefits another. As the most direct form of giving comes in material form, meaning that often you can see a tangible result, the Virgo feels satisfaction from creating form on Earth. From the talent of cooking a gourmet meal, the dedication to impeccable organization, the drive to keep healthy, or the commitment and patience to plant and sow the garden, Virgo is a steady, routine force that wants to make things happen so the bounty can be harvested. After the Virgo has become skilled in these tasks and honed crafts, they are inspired to serve and share with another to expand their garden of prosperity. The goal is to remain humble. To always accept life as a process and not get stymied by the attainment of ultimate perfection. The point is not perfection but rather refining the energy resulting in absolute meaning and mastery. The New Moon will be here on Monday at 7:11 AM. To set your New Moon intentions, cultivate the Virgo values that are most resonant with your heart along the lines of Service, Health, Skill Mastery, and Practical Routines. Write down and open up to the pure, naive experience of your chosen theme. Give it daily nourishment and experience a blossoming at the next Full Moon. For a list of my services, please visit my website www.crescentmoonastrology.com The Moon is in Cancer today where it feels most at home. And home is a
Cancer place as we associate Cancer with the Mother, the Nurturer, and the Protector. Ruled by water, it is an emotional and senstive sign that at it's worst can be insecure. Neptune in Pisces is flowing in support of listening to the emotions while looking for a way to heal that is not ego centric, to let go and surrender. Mercury in Virgo reminds the Moon to stay on task, keep life orderly, and communicate or listen as a way to be of service to your fellow man. Neptune is confronting Mercury and indicating it is great to keep busy and follow routines, but not if you forget to smell the roses, or activate the imagination and watch for potential synchronicities or clues along the way. The party crasher, Uranus in Aries, is not wanting to think before acting, but instead desires to be somewhat shocking and surprising as he tries to upset the applecart. He is being feisty with Saturn and Mars in Scorpio, asking them to adjust to his wild antics. Mars in Scorpio is not particularly amused with Uranus and fires back telling Uranus to "get a grip on what is really happening". Mars sees the power issues and unconscious motives going on and desires to be intense and passionate as it drives open the secrets Saturn has been working hard to uncover. Saturn is really wanting to expose the hard face of reality and plunge into the deep unconscious truths telling Uranus to "shape up or ship out" . Uranus in it's independent, rule breaking fashion tells Saturn to "take a long walk off a short pier", which of course, does not impress Saturn who calls on it's current buddy Mars to stockpile the weapons and be ready to fight back. Neither Uranus nor Mars and Saturn want to make adjustments for each other, but that is truly what needs to happen. Steam boiling over producing vapor ...what will you do with the energy?
We have 6 planets in Fire signs. In Leo, we have the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and just recently Venus joined the Lion society. Uranus and the Moon are in fiery Aries. For the Water team, we have Neptune, Mars, Saturn and an often included asteroid, Chiron. Who is left? The small planet, Pluto, in Capricorn (Earth) who proves "size does not matter", it is how you work with what you have, as he plays the role of the transformer, moving slowly but powerfully. Leo wants to play, be creative, engage the "child within" that seeks to express the internal golden, vibrant sunlight out into the world. Engage the imagination, as Maxwell Maltz said "For imagination sets the goal "picture" which our automatic mechanism works on. We act, or fail to act, not because of "will", as is so commonly believed, but because of imagination." When we are children, we have not been conditioned by limitations and concrete reality, allowing us to create imaginary friends, stories that do not make logical sense, but serve to liberate the creations of the mind. Flowing in courageous support of a fresh, revolutionary perspective is Uranus and the Moon who indicate it is fine to "color outside the lines". Saturn and Mars in watery Scorpio want to bring reality and depth to the equation, pushing the limits a little bit, and produce something deeply authentic from the soul. Neptune and Chiron in Pisces are seeking to broaden the imagination and dream, heal our wounds, and connect compassionately to ourselves through plugging in to the world of spirit, the heavens, the universe. So get out your crayons , connect with spirit, and dig down for the part of you that wants to let off some steam, but be careful not to put the fire out! I certainly don't practice Astrology to be able to predict the death of a person nor do I believe Astrology can be used as a purely predictive tool where our lives are just purely fated. It is true the planetary energies affect us and bring about themes in our lives. The manner in which those energies play out and how we choose to interact with the energetic possibilities must also be considered as we always have a variety of expressions for the energy dependent upon our freedom of choice or free will. With the tragic and shocking death of Robin Williams, I have felt compelled to pull his Astrological chart to see if it can shine any light into what may have been going on for him during those final hours.
Robin Williams had a Cancer Sun, Pisces Moon, and Scorpio Ascendant which are all water signs signifying a level of emotional sensitivity. Cancer Sun is affiliated with the Crab which has a hard shell and a tender inside. The shell guards the Crabs sensitivity and can be shed as it evolves. Feelings and sensitivity would be paramount for this sign resulting in times of moodiness due to the effects of experiencing the world primarily through the emotional arena. As all Planets orbit the Sun, it is a critical part of the natal chart. In addition, the Moon sign reflects the emotional flavor of the person and with his Moon in Pisces, we imagine an incredibly compassionate and sensitive individual, especially in matters of the heart. Pisces aim to dissolve the ego can result in the individual intuiting and feeling others emotions as the boundary between self and other is faint. Scorpio rising or ascendant would depict our first impressions of Robin which would be through a Scorpio filter. This could present as a powerful, intuitive, psychologically adept individual who could see between the truth and the lies. Scorpio is often affiliated with clever wit and a good sense of humor as the ability to see the dark and the light, the good and the bad, and what is going on below the surface allows one to poke fun at the reality of our complicated, complex, and at times ironic lives. As we know, Robin Williams was a creative genius who captured the hearts of many. To look for the Planet associated with the Genius, we would look to Uranus. Uranus rules the higher mind which can show up as madness or pure genius depending on how it is expressed, the veil can be thin between the two realities. His Uranus was right next to Mars in Cancer in the 8th house. Unraveling that energy could play out as great will and courage to express feelings in a somewhat shocking or surprising manner in the context of talking about things that may make some people uncomfortable or provide a much needed release through the magic of comedy. 8th house relates to harsh areas of life that we may deny such as the ever present reality that we will all die one day. It is a house correlated to transformation, rebirth and intimacy as it seeks to explore all deep aspects of humanity. Humor is a great outlet, for sometimes it is easier to laugh or you will cry. If we want to look at his communication style, we find his Mercury in Leo right next to Pluto, ruler of the 8th house and Scorpio. This indicates a playful, fun loving, childlike, creative, performing style of expression with a tinge of truth telling and sarcasm reminiscent of the Scorpio influence via Pluto. In terms of the movement of the Planets in the sky today, which we call Transits, Pluto was opposing his Uranus and Mars cluster in the 8th house. This would have the effect of asking him to look at the shadows of the Soul, issues of self-esteem and his values would be under review. The Lord of the Underworld, Pluto, seeks to transform by first digging into the depths to find out what needs to be reclaimed and what can be discarded. After foraging through the muck and hidden parts of the soul, he could emerge transformed and stronger like the alchemy of purification. In this he had to feel (Cancer) the dark and the light of Mars and Uranus. The shadow side of Mars is violence and rage and the shadow side of Uranus is madness and unpredictability. Robin Williams had a history of depression which could be a result of having an emotional temperament and a tendency towards mania illustrated through Uranus. We can see how confronting his demons, Pluto, may have become too much to bear. Steven Forrest has lectured on the 8th house and how one can see the flavor of one's death by analyzing the symbolism of an individuals 8th house. Robin's 8th house is ruled by Gemini which refers to Mercury and the mental realm. In it's glory, Mercury could present as mental mastery and intelligence which as a comedian, he was always one step ahead. It is also the sign associated with twins and can reference a splitting or 2 sides of the mind. A sudden, Uranus, violent death with anger turned inward, Mars is symbolized by the Planets in the 8th house. Mars in Scorpio was going through his 12th house, the final house, the final exit. In addition, Saturn in Scorpio had just entered his 1st house asking him to be more responsible to himself, more disciplined. Saturn can depress the sense of self as it seeks to expose the hard face of reality and rebuild the structure of the self for the better. Robin Williams had a choice, confront the demons, submerge himself emotionally into the depths of his psyche or give in to the extremely emotional psychological and mental chaos being presented to him. Maybe his legacy will bring about more openness and acceptance of mental illness and it's tragic toll. He was a brilliant and loving man, may his incredible creative works that filled the world with laughter live on in our hearts and may we all have compassion for him. The Aquarius Full Moon is coming on Sunday 11:10am Pacific Standard Time. This is another Super Moon which means it will be closer to the Earth, larger, and brighter. This is the “greatest” of the Super Moons this season, so hold on to your hats! As we know, we are energetic beings, and having this luminous body closer to us may mean we feel the effects to a greater degree. It is in the sign of Aquarius, the sign associated with the Genius, the Revolutionary, the Humanitarian, and the Individualist. Aquarius is known for striving to express their individuality. Specifically choosing to NOT follow the herd, they are seeking a way to express what is truly unique about themselves. The interesting juxtaposition is that they want to be around groups, part of a cause, part of the collective, yet in that group they don’t want to lose themselves. The group serves to be a launching pad for the individuality to express. The identifying with the uniqueness of the self is the goal. We all have parts of us that are truly unique, that make us who we are as individuals. In our lives, challenges can make us feel that we need to be like others as maybe they have all the answers, they have it all together. However, the truth is we are all unique and special which sounds a bit like Leo energy as it embraces the expression of the personality. In opposites, we tend to think that they are completely different energies and that they have nothing in common. However the truth of polarity is that it contains aspects of the other in itself. Much like the yin yang symbol has a speck of black in the white and a speck of white in the black, they contain similarities. For this Full Moon, we are invited to claim our individuality. Sometimes Aquarius is associated with the “freak” but in essence, it is a depiction of someone who is willing to embrace the part of themselves that is like no other. With Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, flowing in support of this Full Moon, the opportunity is to stretch yourself, contemplate what makes you YOU and what parts you may have buried in seeking acceptance. Uranus in Aries wants to give us the courage to let that part out! Claim yourself! For there is no one on this Planet exactly like you and we need YOU to be YOU so we can be stronger as a society, and stronger in ourselves. Herd mentality forms a level of safety and conformity in our world, but lest we forget our distinctive gifts and unique potentials, we suffer and the whole world suffers as a result. There will be a safe container created by Saturn who will be there causing a little friction to make sure we don’t go way out of bounds. The Full Moon will be at 18 degrees Aquarius. Find this location in your chart and the house it falls in will tell you where you are being encouraged to individuate! Message me if you would like me to send you a copy of your chart free of charge.
A competent, capable, industrious Moon that feels contentment through
development of self respect. Self-respect is acheived for Capricorn by proving to oneself that you are independent and self-reliant. Natural born leaders, Capricorn works hard to build structure and produce a great work, even if that takes a lifetime. Early in the day on the West Coast of North America, the Moon will get an awkward nudge from Jupiter who wants to perform and create spontaneously while the Moon scratches it's head thinking "we need a plan" and "we need discipline". As we head towards Full Moon this weekend, we are encouraged to keep refining our creation that we intended during the New Moon in Leo. In the early evening, some flowing influences from Neptune and Mars will let the Moon know that although building a fortress will bring a sense of accomplishment, it is okay to feel the growing pains and emotional undercurrents that may arise. Use the structured container of Capricorn to descend into the depths and shadows of the soul while maintaining a belief in our light shown through Neptune's reminder of the divine connection to Spirit. Furthering the effort to look at the shadows of the soul will be the Lord of the Underworld, Pluto who in the hours past midnight will envelope the Moon and persuade Luna that if she will drop into the depths of the soul, she may find some treasures. For in the tragedy, the panic, the uncomfortable spaces, we have opportunity to reclaim the light and awaken reborn, renewed, and reignited. Mars governs the will. The gumption, the force, the push, the drive, the
choice, the direction. As humans we have choices and motivations, and it is through the force of our will that we move mountains. It is our intentions brought into ACTION. Mars, the god of war, in the sign of Scorpio is a powerful energy combination. Scorpio can be quite intense as it can be passionate, magnetic, intuitive, determined, forceful, powerful, and emotional as well as jealous, resentful, secretive, compulsive, controlling, and obstinate. A complex sign that is associated with 3 symbols- Scorpion, Eagle, and Phoenix to represent the diversity of it's expression. Many of these quailities make for a skilled warrior, a fierce detective, a passionate lover, or an energy healer. Today Mars is side-swiped by Jupiter in Leo. Jupiter wants to expand whatever it touches so this can ignite the will. Jupiter in Leo can be playful, creative, expressive, loving, and ready to show off it's talents. A crowd pleaser, he is happy to take the stage and soak up the admiration through performing acts of drama or natural creativity. Almost like a child who says "watch what I can do" and with great volition seeks to impress and entertain. As Mars and Jupiter goad each other, we have a magnified and intense force of will brewing. What will (no pun intended) each of us do with this energy? One thing for certain, sitting on the sidelines is not recommended. Some sort of action whether it be taking a long walk, writing a poem, or dancing in the sunshine....the point is to not sit idle but to grasp at the energy and take a step towards the top of the mountain. Mercury, the planet of communication, moves into Leo today so we are compelled to share and exchange information in a playful, expressive, and artistic way. The fires are burning creating some useful heat that we can utilize to expand our creative genius, play with great tenacity, go for the gold! Something needs to be ACTED and rather than a destructive action, resulting from inaction, we can choose to express ourselves and soar like an Eagle and avoid the Scorpion sting. |
