It seems like finals, the last test, when you are aware of how prepared you are and also what you may need to do to pass the test. We have Mercury “stationing” in the last degree of Virgo, just about to take its retrospective trip down memory lane. As Mercury is the fastest Planet moving around the Sun, mirroring the swiftness of our mental activity, it is time to take a little pause, a breath. If we choose to move at the same pace that we have, we hit roadblocks, traffic jams, computer failures, flat tires, typos and spelling errors. We know the drill as Mercury receives a lot of press during its retrograde cycles throughout the year. It is ideal to give yourself more time to get places, double check those emails before hitting send, and engage in the “re” activities such as review, reconsider, renew, revise, and remember, rather than trying to embark on something new. Last week, we had both Saturn and Mars leave retrograde motion and start moving forward again beyond the shadow after a 6 month retrospective journey inward. As Mars engages our will and our gumption to get out of bed in the morning, it may feel easier to climb the mountain now. We may feel more directed and able to make traction with our efforts. Mix that in with the Mars squaring the Nodes of the Moon, otherwise known as Rahu and Ketu. The Nodes relate to the past, where we have been, and where we are stretching towards in this lifetime if we desire to evolve. Neptune in Pisces is meeting up with Ketu/ the South Node, the past, our habits and instinctive responses. Neptune wants to spiritualize whatever it touches through the process of release and surrender to something greater than itself, be it God, or whatever we believe to be the great maestro of our mystical universe. Its mantra is “Let Go “and so we are advised to let our old habits fall away if they no longer serve our growth. Across the table sits the Sun approaching Rahu/the North Node, our future and the path we cannot clearly see as we have not yet navigated this new terrain. The Sun in Virgo is shining a bright light on our potential direction should we choose to accept the mission of evolving during this lifetime. As a collective, moving in the direction of Virgo from Pisces involves steady, earthly, daily endeavors that are rooted in humble service to ourselves and others focused on noticing what we can be improved- what appears to be a chink in the armor is good fodder for the Virgo. Virgo wants to maintain the aim of trying to use the keen eye of discrimination to improve upon something. In essence when you move from Pisces to Virgo, it can be about bringing Heaven to Earth. Thursday is a Solar Eclipse so there can be sudden job changes, relationship changes, and people coming in and also leaving this world. I will be posting another article to go into more details. But until then, know that the energy is quite dramatic at the moment and this too shall pass. Our experiences our helping us to grow and evolve even though sometimes it may not feel that way at the moment. Peace, Jen

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.” — J.K. Rowling The Sun entered Virgo on Monday, August 22nd. The shift from creative self-expression in Leo, the Sun enters an energetic vibration of discernment, refinement, and humility. In contrast to the pride and confidence we find in Leo, we find a softer energy that seeks to improve whatever it touches. The “Virgin” is now aware that it has talents from Leo, however, now is able to see the imperfections. Using the mental faculties from its ruler Mercury, Virgo seeks to discern what is useful and what can be discarded. Virgos can choose to take a “behind the scenes” role as their satisfaction comes from using their sharp mind to chisel away at any excesses, refine their processes, and nurture the growth of our physical world. Oftentimes Virgos will be very “busy” working on tasks, for if the mind is left idle for too long, worry may set in, especially when aware of what needs to get done. The aim is to direct the self towards a noble task and to take a humble approach, allowing for adjustments to be made along the way. The ‘chinks in the armor’ are actually learning tools. Through the willingness and humility to tackle the mundane, the mind can relax. In that tempered state, Virgo can transcend ordinary reality like an alchemist. The opposite sign Pisces relates to spirituality and mystical energy allowing for Virgo to bring ‘Heaven down to Earth’. For in the opposites, we find qualities of the other, just like the white dot in the black circle shown in the Yin/Yang symbol. Another significant event happens today in which Saturn and Mars are practically on top of one another in what astrologers refer to as the ‘conjunction’. This fusion of energy in Sagittarius can root us in what we believe and have the drive to ‘go for it’. This interaction is a little more loaded in that Mars is what we call ‘out of bounds’ meaning it is a little ‘off the radar’ from the ecliptic. When a Planet is in this position, it becomes like a maverick or a non-conformist, a rebel. With the Planet Mars, the God of War, this can be a little edgy and intense. In the right circumstances, this could play out as someone who finds a cause they can stand behind and chooses the courageous path of standing up for what they believe in. In the less than ideal circumstances, we may hear stories of people who are ‘blinded by faith’ and become fanatical resulting in acts of violence. Tread lightly now with others as you may have to ‘agree to disagree’ in efforts to keep the peace, yet maintain your stance. Individually, this is an excellent time to start taking action in the direction of your desires. WE all know that the Moon deals with emotions for when the Moon is Full, we may see a rise in signs that people are feeling an increase in emotional sensitivity. On Eclipses, we see significant life events correlating to eclipses such as job or relationship changes, births of ‘Queens’ or the death of a ‘King’, endings and beginnings. With this Eclipse being more subtle in its range of orb to cast a shadow on the Moon, we may not feel it as intensely as some of the other eclipses coming in the next month. The Moon is in the sign of Aquarius. A Moon sign that loves to be photographed in my experience, enjoys the limelight perhaps. I have many Aquarius Moon’s in my photography collection, but less common are Pisces and Scorpio. Anyhow, with the essence of Aquarius we are reminded of the “Water Bearer” which instantly can cause a reaction such as “huh?”, “the what??”. In this confused response we have yet again more dichotomy as the symbol that conflicts with the sign’s element of Air. We begin to scratch our heads. This perplexity hints at the energetic imprint of Aquarius…it does not blend or fit into a neat orderly box, quite the contrary. Breaking the rules ignites the Aquarian appetite, not strictly for the desire to create havoc, but rather an identification with their own authentic individualism which may require ‘going against the grain’. This Full Moon is also stimulated by Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, and here we find a repetition of a theme which is reminding us of our individualism, the part of us we know will make us stand out in a crowd is about to tap us on the shoulder to take a leap or at least show up. Our authentic self wants a seat at the table. The Moon and Uranus form a “Yod” directed to Jupiter and Mercury in Virgo. The Jupiter and Mercury would infuse themes of faith, beliefs, theoretical understanding, and communication into the pie slice. This Moon would allow for a visionary and altruistic heart to languish in exploring the ‘whys’ of life stimulated and electrified by Uranus. Uranus is offering up the courage to stand up in the community and forge a new way forward, an ingenious alternative. The challenge is to get Mercury who is enjoying its’ time in articulate Virgo to understand someone who seems to not live by the rules of convention and normalcy. Virgo is weary of impulsiveness and Uranus in Aries is demonstrating this in spades. The Aquarius Moon also has some challenges expressing to Jupiter in Virgo why the little bits don’t really matter, it’s being able to experience without limitation and not attach to any particular one mantra. This ‘open ended’ approach makes Virgo’s skin crawl as the patterns and repetitions of service serve to soothe the mental activity. The goal is to follow sprouting of new ways of believing or communing with the world. WE can expand our minds as to ways of improving our core selves for the benefit of the “ALL”. What may not be aligned with your future forward may be released or shifted to assist you moving in your individual evolving direction. May the shifts and insights trying to communicate with you be easily received and not shunned or shamed- for what may seem shocking and innovative at first has the potential to assist your journey onward. Ideally under an Aquarius Moon, we stay detached and open to the unexpected rather than attached to reliable or predictable outcomes in our lives. Breathe into the emotional currents over the next few days as we ride the waves of our hearts and the cosmos. A few days ago Saturn, the Lord of Karma, moved out of “retrograde” motion and entered forward or “direct” motion in relation to Earth. Saturn entered into this backward spin at the end of March, so for the past few months, you may have felt a little challenged to take the necessary steps forward. This has been a time for clarifying your goals and what structures you may desire to build in the world. Saturn is our task master and has the discipline to build the masterpiece knowing that “London Bridge was not built in a day”. With this understanding, it is important to make conscious decisions and be able to fully commit in order to be able to withstand the test of time it will take to achieve your aims. When Saturn made this turn in March, it was interacting with Jupiter in Virgo and Venus in Pisces. The axis of Pisces and Virgo deal with humility, compassion, and discernment. In Pisces, we get in touch with what may lie beyond our physical experience to entertain the mystical quality of life. In Virgo, we desire to maintain that compassionate understanding of “all that is” found in Pisces. Through that place of connection, Virgo excels at bringing that energy into physical form through a task such as cooking or gardening nourishing the soul and promoting healing. Saturn was sitting at the midpoint of this axis (Pisces/Virgo) in Sagittarius forming a “T-Square”, causing us feel a certain edge or friction around our beliefs and what we may have chosen to value in our lives. We may have felt a certain sense of “crisis in meaning” as to “what is really going on”. This crisis may have led us to go beyond ourselves through acts of prayer, meditation, or helping those in need or it may have led us into a level of depression. Through this internal tension, we may have gotten some clarity around what is truly important to us and how we may want to make choices going forward. In this search of contemplating our values, beliefs, and health practices, we may have discovered we want to make some adjustments. The mutability of Pisces, Sagittarius and Virgo offer the ability to change what may no longer serve our greatest potential. At the beginning of Saturn’s retrograde in March, Venus was in Pisces reminding us that we are beings connected to more than we see. Venus was not visible in the sky for a period of time to really connect with the unseen realm and the parts of us that may be hidden from clear view. With that expanded awareness of connections, Venus has now moved to the other side of the zodiac in Virgo assisting us to bring that experience down to Earth. If the past few months, we may have had some upheavals that asked us what we believe in and truly value. This may have brought us to places of greater compassion for ourselves and our world as we came in contact with outdated ways of being and believing. For in the struggles, we find the opportunities to make “new choices in the face of old circumstances” said Jeffrey Wolf Green. This is the time to get things in order and start moving in the direction of your goals. Saturn can help you to put one foot in front of the other, heading towards the mountain top, one step at a time. May this steady elder guide you to your mountain peak! |
