The Sagittarius New Moon is upon us. It will arrive very close to the time the Sun moves in Sagittarius. As of late, we have been in “Scorpio City” with a total of 4 Planets hanging out in the energy of deep emotional intensity for the past 2 weeks. Scorpio energy can sting, but it can also provide some awareness around what we are really made of, what are our limitations and what do we do when the (poop) hits the fan. It can reach down to your core and crawl into the dark crevices, bringing to light some of the shadows we have dismissed, pushed away, or tried to ignore. The purpose is to heal and integrate the rawness of our human experience. The intense climax and ecstasy that only comes through involving the soul and integrating the part of ourselves that is beyond this human physical form. Now as we launch into Sagittarius, we are offered an opportunity to allow our mental selves to find perspective and meaning to all of this experience. What beliefs are true to me now that I have exposed my underbelly? How can I formulate greater knowledge of myself to align with my belief system and develop an expansive vision? How can I learn to incorporate my shadows and continue the quest for deeper understanding?
Sagittarius has more syllables than any other sign, mirroring its ownership as the intellectual of zodiac. Coming from a place where theories and philosophies are born, it seeks to open up the mind and revel in experiences that allow one to explore, free from set rules or limitations. Known as the “Adventurer” or “Gypsy”, it seeks for seeks sake, entertained and fulfilled by the journey into the unknown. Somewhat of an optimistic sign, it feels a joviality and excitement in heading towards uncharted territory. Its positive perspective and fire energy allows it to go where no man has roamed, to be joyful even when conditions may not be so desirable for it knows in the end, it will be satiated with new understanding allowing new theories and beliefs to emerge. One of the only signs with a nickname “Sag” which if you add an “e” becomes Sage, allow yourself to become wise through your experiences. At New Moon, we have a blank slate. A dark moist soil from the remnants of watery Scorpio, ready to plant a seed with our intentions. We can choose to engage in the mystery, the uncharted vision, the search for greater meaning in our experience. It will be at 0 degrees corresponding to the theme of the new, the beginning, and the unlimited potential of possibility as you embark on a quest. The word quest is a shortened word for “question” which leads Sagittarius to keep asking questions and inquiring to form a well thought out perspective, leaving "no stone unturned". So set your desires to have life open you up, infiltrate your hardened beliefs, your conditioned reality and leap merrily into the fascinating mystery and unfolding of it all.

Today at 2:22 PM Pacific Standard Time, the Moon will be FULL in the sign of Taurus. Taurus wants to return to simplicity and the basics of our survival. Sharply attuned to the 5 senses, it emulates the animal instinct in us. The animal rests when the body is tired and frolics when it feels the impulse to play. Animals hunt for food when the stomach stirs utilizing the olfactory system, vibrations and sounds, and vision to respond to the environment. Once it has found food, it consumes the feast, savoring and devouring the taste. When engaging our inner animal, the mind is at rest as excessive worries and mental thoughts are set aside giving the reigns to focusing on what is right in front of us, the present. Should the environment elicit a threat, the body reacts calling on the limbic system for the "fight or flight" response. As meditation says to "return to the breath" and get in touch with the body, this is the simplicity of being that fulfills the Taurus goal for calm and inner peace. The Full Moon today offers an opportunity for us to slow down and follow our senses. A great way to do this is to go out in nature and open up to pure sensory awareness. Feeling the wind brush your cheeks, smelling the sweet scents in the air, softening the gaze to notice form and beauty, listening to the birds and rustling of leaves, and feeling the ground beneath your feet would be examples of "tuning in".
The Ruler of Taurus is Venus who is residing in Scorpio next to the Sun. Scorpio departs from the physical, earthly realm of Taurus and moves into the terrain of the soul, from the seen to the unseen. Scorpio is a sign of passionate intensity willing to push life to the edge to discover the limits and authentic truths. Typically we set our intentions at the blank slate of the dark New Moon to come into full manifestation at the Full Moon. With Scorpio themes available at the Solar Eclipse a few weeks ago, we may have had some shadow material surface that illuminated part of our soul's desires. As we have had an opportunity to review this information, we may have chosen to deeply explore these issues or release them as they may no longer serve our soul growth. Now at the Full Moon, it is brought into the physical realm and we can feel a shift solidifying our desires into form and tangible matter. The idea here to ground the heart into what is truly present for us now, not discarding our soul's journey but aiming to have a "reality check" for what is really serving us today and what does not can be offered back to the Earth. Due to the ruling Planet Venus being one of love and relationships, there is a potential to experience this physical fruition through the engagement with another. As you plant your feet in the soil and allow gravitation to support your roots, you can deepen and intensify your connection to yourself and another entering through your senses and remembering to breathe The Moon enters Aries today, the 1st sign in the Zodiac, the entry point, the beginning. With fierce, independent, passionate courage, Aries tells the heart to "forge ahead". Aries governs the Head and keeps the motto "Head First" or "Just DO it!". With Fire as it's ruling element, it blazes a trail. Achetypally, it is depicted by the warrior who is willing to take dangerous risks somewhat in part by not taking the time to consider all the less than optimum outcomes. Part of the call for Aries is to rely on courage and maintain tenacity to handle whatever may surface in it's quest for freedom. Aries is ruled by the Planet Mars and the Moon is in tension with Mars in Capricorn today. Capricorn takes a planned methodical approach to life based on wisdom gleaned from prior experience and hard work whereas Aries takes the "leap of faith" without a lot of forethought. Mars, representing our will and drive, wants our efforts to be played out with some strategy and calculation creating some tension as our hearts may want to move quickly without too much contemplation. Saturn is trying to help the Moon cool it's jets by stepping in as an authority reminding the Moon that there are intense aspects of life that will unfold over time. Having a courageous heart will help to navigate difficult terrains, but responding foolishly to impulses may not be the best approach. Our life-giving Sun is close to Venus in Scorpio and together they are illuminating the intense realities of our Earthy existence. It must be no accident that Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, always falls when the Sun is in Scorpio who engages the unseen realm and communes with our ancestors and our loved ones who have passed. Use the fearless energy today to keep moving boldly along your path while holding space for your wise elders to guide you.
