As the New Year kicks off, we are invited to look at how we became wiser in 2014 with the bright light of the Sun illuminating Pluto in Capricorn. This may reveal what our psyche is trying to renew, release or transform so we are encouraged to check in with our core to see what still may need excavating and purging as we build a new foundation. Uranus will be hanging tight with the South Node of the Moon until June that relates to our past, our habits, our innate tendencies, and our default behaviors that we are encouraged in this life to evolve away from to grow. Uranus can be quite an “awakener” as he tries to compel us all to forge a new path, break free from our habits, and follow an instinctive new beginning filled with freedom and independence. As we claim our independence and foster ourselves as individuals, we can enter into balanced relationships with others. Mars is in Aquarius echoing some of Uranus’ sentiments to drive us to display our inner genius and creative selves, Jupiter in Leo, without overdoing it and becoming the outcast. Jupiter is currently retrograde so it is taking an inner look at its creative flair and need for attention. It will allow us to review our inner child until April 9th this year when it goes back to direct or forward motion.
Of notable mention is Saturn’s movement into Sagittarius which asks us to solidify what we believe in and to be adventurous and committed in seeking our higher truths. Saturn puts a little bit of a damper on Neptune’s dreamy Piscean fantasies as he squares him or jabs him in his side. Neptune can be happy floating along in the fog, the dreamscape, the ultimate fantasy and Earthy Saturn, says “get real, banana peel!” Sagittarius and Pisces were both ruled by Jupiter prior to the discovery of Neptune, so they aren’t distant bedfellows. However, Saturn should help Neptune keep things more grounded while continuing to encourage the dreaming. Just be sure to make something of your quest that Saturn can see in our 3D world. Manifest the vision and bring form to it, don’t just stay in the clouds, bring the divine insights back down to Earth. Saturn will retrograde back into Scorpio in June to make sure there aren’t any cobwebs we haven’t dusted or places we need to test our emotional limits until September 19th when it returns to Sagittarius. The Moon will be opposite Saturn moments after the “Happy New Year” celebration trying to balance our maturity and commitments with our emotional heart space. All in all the year ahead looks like a year of continued changes and evolution as we have our last of seven Uranus/Pluto squares in March. The effects of these planets engagements may continue to show their impact as the years unfold. Strong themes of finding your higher vision, fulfilling your dreams and fantasies, and allowing the old to transform to a stronger foundation prod us to remember our limitless human potential. May you all follow your heart and manifest your dreams!

As we moved into Solstice, Uranus, Lord of Thunderbolts and Lightning went direct. Direct motion means a shift from retrograde or focus on internal energy to an outer focus of influence. Uranus by nature, can stir things up, and in truth, really doesn’t mind doing so as complacency and order are not its best qualities. Physically it is a unique planet as it rolls instead of spins, depicting its desire to express its individuality and obscurity. Unlike his son, Saturn, who is all about discipline, commitment, order and hard work, Uranus want to electrify and awaken the higher mind through what may come out as a sudden shock. Sounding somewhat destructive, how do you stop the status quo? It may require an unexpected moment to get us to change our habits, routines or believed “safe” behaviors. While order and structure do have their importance as it lends itself to allowing societies to coalesce and function, there are times we become stale and need to reawaken to the passion of ingenuity and genius. Uranus rules the higher mind, the mental genius, the creative madman, the spark of intention to blaze a different trail and go against the grain. As humans, if we all just follow along like robots marching in line with the dominant paradigm, we may not have advances and breakthroughs that revitalize and revolutionize our world as we know it. We may still be traveling along in the horse and buggy, never advancing to the advent of the automobile or the airplane. Late yesterday, Uranus in Aries shifted to direct motion. This can feel a bit edgy and punchy as Aries is the first sign, a fire sign, not known for being patient. It is a bold sign that is willing to take risks to do what needs to be done, ideally setting fear aside. Aries is ruled by Mars, the God of War, so if you can see the potential battlefield starting to emerge, we are right on track. Of course, this fiery, impulsive, warrior energy to buck the system could be one expression of this signature; however, we know it is not the highest expression of Uranus going direct. May this serve as a warning to not let your frustrations lead you to a less than desirable outcome as a fight with the world. A perhaps, wiser, more beneficial utilization of Uranus in Aries could be finding the courage to be yourself, the individual that lies within, unlike any other human in existence. For we are not robots, we are living, breathing unique, special concoctions of atoms and molecules that while coming from the same source, we are recognizable as individuals because we are not identical. So why are you you? What is it about your makeup that is here to offer something unique to your world? Can you find the bravery to do just that? Can you step away from what you are “supposed” to be and do and listen to your higher mind? What are you afraid of? Can you activate the warrior within and your inner genius and perhaps shock your circle of regularity and conformity into a place of profound authenticity?
December 21, 2014 marks the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere as the Sun illuminates the Tropic of Capricorn. The word “Solstice” means Sun standing still. It is the ...beginning of our walk towards the Sun as the hours of daylight start to gradually increase. It is a time to take a moment and be still with all that has passed and celebrate the fruits of our labor, the abundance and gifts we enjoy from being a living human on Earth nourished and fortified from the life force of the Sun. We can rest and feel a sense of gratitude for the harvest that is beginning to take root, the fertility we have faith will bring new life. It is a wonderful time to break bread and share food with others, feeding our souls and replenishing our connections to each other and our world.
Astrologically, this Solstice also coincides with the New Moon. The Sun is at the last degree of Sagittarius, 29 degrees, the culmination point, the point right before transition that holds the essence of all that has transpired. Sagittarius is the harbinger of knowledge, the one that quests for philosophical theories and truths, an explorer of life’s great mysteries. We are encouraged to reflect on what we have learned, where we have been and what we can carry into our future. Under the New Moon, we have a dark, empty slate, a new beginning to call forth our intentions that will manifest at the Full Moon. The Sun and Moon are flowing in connection to Jupiter in Leo, the ruler of Sagittarius, emphasizing the optimism and belief in an abundant future if we are willing to be open to all possibilities, and feel the guidance of infinite potential. Harnessing the vibrant, playful, fiery, radiating energy of Leo and the Sun, we can create what is aligned with our higher truths. As we move into the rooting, Earthy energy of Capricorn, we can start to solidify the wisdom from our experiences. Following the Solstice, Saturn, Lord of Karma, will leave it’s 2.5 year stay in Scorpio- a sign noted for psychological intensity, intuition, piercing focus on truth no matter how dark or hard to face, exploring the edges and peaks of human existence to experience the limits, death and ecstasy. This time may have brought up some hidden truths we were asked to look at and heal. As Saturn shifts into Sagittarius, we will be called to be disciplined about what we believe, what we can build from our knowledge, and commit to guiding principles. Purge all that does not serve you, be grateful for the journey and blessings of this year, and gather in community to celebrate the spark of life in all of us, our universe and Father Sun. Uranus and Pluto have been in tension with each other since the middle of June 2012 when we had our first exact square lineup. Uranus is in Aries at 12 degrees and Pluto is in Capricorn at 12 degrees forming a “square” aspect or 90 degree angle. The energy of a square is what astrologers refer to as a “hard” aspect. Like a 4 way stop sign or an intersection where a car comes perpendicular to your passage of travel, it has the ability to “T-bone” your car, or “broadside” you causing significant damage on impact. Pluto and Uranus are “Outer Planets”, meaning they are farther away from Earth in comparison to Venus and Mercury, having been squaring off twice a year since 2012. This the 6th exact square out of a total of 7 exact hits. 7 can indicate the senses of a change after an accomplished cycle and of a positive renewal. If we look at the number 7, there are also 7 chakras or energy centers in our bodies. IF we follow the chakras, the 6th chakra corresponds to the Third eye or area behind your eyebrows in the center of your head. It is known for seeing and feeling from intuition, a “knowing”.
Uranus brings energy that can be unexpected and shocking, like a lightning bolt, that is sudden and monumental. In the spirit of Aries, we find a fresh, bold and strong warrior archetype that lends itself to new beginnings which demonstrate courage. Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld, as his domain deals with issues of power, control, and the life that lurks beneath the soil. Capricorn can be responsible, disciplined, wise energy that can represent societal structure and stability. Pluto wants to dig into the accepted societal foundations and expose any potential corruption, hidden shadows, and get to the bottom of all things in efforts to transform, heal and grow. Whether we address our issues in the light or keep them hidden in the dark, they are still affecting the psyche. Pluto gives us the opportunity to move beyond what may no longer be serving ourselves and society. What wounds must we bring to light to allow healing in our lives? Uranus is making little earthquakes and disruptions in our lives to get us to look at what we really have passion about and what are we willing to fight for? In the face of an unexpected calamity, what is trying to be birthed? If we listen to our higher mind, Uranus, what fresh perspective can we harness to strengthen and invigorate ourselves and our communities? On a personal level, where Uranus and Pluto are showing up in your chart guides the way for where you individually may seem to have had the rug pulled out beneath you, a revolution of change, psychological turmoil, or some desires starting to brew as life seems to be turned upside down. It can also turn right side out, the choice is yours. Use this time to purge what no longer serves you and connect with your inner knowing and power. Breathe deeply and accept the changes, healing and birthing the creation of a brave new world. The Full Moon in Gemini emerges through the recent tumults and storms. She shines brightly and fiercely hoping to shine a path of faith and remembrance of a pure mind. Gemini represents the young, inquisitive, curious mental realm that’s beauty and strength are found in not locking into any belief or assumption. Like a raw, pure vessel experiencing the five senses learned through Taurus, Gemini can “take it all in” and “spit it all out”. Transmitting information like an antennae or data processor, it does not seek to find deep meaning but more just “keep it moving”. With all the stimulus and information in our world, maintaining a responsive, curious, friendly, fresh capacity fuels the heart with inspiration. As the Gemini Moon comes in contact with Chiron, the wound we carry and learn to help others through our own healing, sends a message to remedy what ills us. Be it our denial of a spiritual connection, our confusion and worry, or our despair, we are asked to have compassion for ourselves and hold faith that we are never alone in this great universe. A universe inherently connected by energy, a web of the seen and the unseen realities linked up by vibration. The vision of our future is trying to speak to us as the North Node of the Moon in Libra wants to bring us back into balance through comradery, friendship, relationship, beauty and peace.
All the Planets in Sagittarius- Sun, Venus, and Mercury are wanting to light up the embers of fire keeping us moving towards a vision, a theory, an enchantment, an enthusiastic traveler on the journey of life. While the heart is focusing on letting information flow through, Mercury is trying to bring some meaning to the potential chaos kicked up by Uranus in Aries. Uranus tends to be a bit rebellious concerning the norms of expectation. He can rock the boat as the god of “Thunder and Lightning”. Link him up with Pluto, “Lord of the Underworld” and we are in for some deep psychological earthquakes. As scary as this may sound, we know that nothing in life is truly permanent and the forces of change can bring about incredible transformation that brings to fruition unimagined beautiful experiences. It is time for some shifting and we all can handle it or our souls would not have chosen to be hear at this time. Stay open to the communication signs that show up as you move about in this unfolding, momentary life. Recognize the blooming you have created around you and offer gratitude for the journey. |
