“Why be afraid if I'm not alone Though life is never easy the rest is unknown Up to now for me it's been hands against stone Spent each and every moment Searching for what to believe Coming out of the dark, I finally see the light now It's shining on me Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me You're sharing with me Starting again is part of the plan And I'll be so much stronger holding your hand Step by step I'll make it through I know I can It may not make it easier but I have felt you Near all the way Coming out of the dark, i finally see the light now And it's shining on me ( I see the light, I see the light) See the light Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me You're sharing with me” ~Gloria Estefan, Coming Out of the Dark Winter Solstice 12/21/16 4:44 AM PST Welcome back the light! The days of darkness start to recede as we head towards the Summer Solstice. At this point, we have MORE dark than light during a 24 hour period. During the Summer Solstice, we have MORE light than dark during a 24 hour period. There can be a sense of emerging out from the shadows, the crevices, and the time when our eyes recede in prominence and the other senses are heightened, the resting hour. There is stillness in the dark, the life force falls away and we find us in hibernation as our bodies slow and long for warmth, hot food and drink, and crackling fires. It is the start of Winter. While things are falling away, something is also birthing. The ebbing and building of more and more light to our days, prepares us for something anew. Gloria Estefan had survived a tragic automobile accident that left her challenged to walk again. It was a life changing experience for her and she wrote “Coming out of the Dark” during her recovery. The chart at the time of Solstice has many Planets in the last 6 signs of the Zodiac. This implies that much of the energy is about engaging with other, the collective experience, “big” picture thinking , and willingness to surrender to something greater as a means to heal. We have many Planets also in the 20 degree range making Planets in your own chart with that degree, “triggered” or activated at this time. With the recent move of Mars into Pisces to joining with Neptune, Chiron and the South Node of the Moon, we may be feeling that we cannot propel forward as we wish at this time. The South Node which depicts the past, or the habitual behaviors we repeat, are moving through the “let it go” land of the zodiac. Holding on or grasping material, even when it takes more to manage it and the pleasure is gone would not be suggested right now. The only Planet in the earlier signs is Uranus in Aries, who by it’s very nature is sort of a rebel or wildcard. With it leading the pack in passionate, fiery, “head-first”- think later mentality, we can see where we might experience some fresh, new breakthroughs. If we are willing to open up to blazing a new trail, one that we may not have considered, we may be able to harness the shockwaves and ride the currents. The entrance of the Sun into Capricorn and Mercury retrograde asks us to review and recollect where we have left our mark. If we need to adjust the steps we are taking as we build our legacy, this may be of importance as we prepare to move forward next year. Saturn has moved along further down the road of Sagittarius, removing its tension with Neptune that we experienced over much of 2016. Now it wants to ignite the fire of meaning and crack open what may have become too hardened inside us as it tangos with Uranus and Jupiter. Happy Solstice and birthing of a new cycle! May the courage needed to be part of the conversation align with your greatest truth! May moments of peace allow your body to restore itself! May you not swagger in your ideals and beliefs, but hold true armed with the knowledge that light and love will see you through! Gemini, known for the archetype of the Twins, is the first air sign we find in the zodiac. With youthful vigor, this sign is the Communicator. With the ‘gift of gab’, this mental sign will love to hang out at coffee shops or train stations engaging in ‘chit-chat’ as it goes about the world with curiosity. Ruled by Mercury, these fast data processors gather facts and information instinctually. With the rapid mind, the greatest function is to be an open channel for information to flow in and right back out, making room for new processing. “Keep it Moving”, there is no time to get stuck on anything as new information and curiosity abound. With this influence, we may find new information filtering in for us. On Full Moon, emotions may run high as the Moon is in Full Bloom, however with so much air in the mix, we may lean towards logic rather than the emotions first. With stimulation from Uranus, we may have “flashes of insight” birthing today. Jupiter, the Planet that expands whatever it touches, will be also lending a hand to push for new details or thoughts on keeping things in balance. Completing the air trine is Mars in Aquarius that desires authenticity at all costs, recognizing we all have individual passions. As with all Full Moons, it opposes the Sun. The Sun is sitting close to Saturn in Sagittarius. Contrasting to Gemini’s swift mind, Sagittarius wants to stay a little longer with the information it draws in, and find the meaning. Built to also keep rolling and not get stuck, the journey is the destination for Sagittarius. Experience is its greatest teacher and utilizing what it finds to actually form theories of understanding fuel the Sag’s flames. But still “Keep it Moving” applies, just keep contemplating and building a case for the reason of it all. With Saturn snuggling up to the Sun, it can bring a more serious tone to the adventure. Saturn wants to bring into form something from the days on the road, so we may be guided towards finding the master key. What key will unlock the door to the kingdom? With Mercury in Capricorn approaching Pluto, we may see some of the shadows of our conditioned reality appear on the surface. Be open to breaking down that which no longer fits. Each day lately, it seems this fast- paced world is bringing new information to our consciousness. If it seems too much at times, just “keep moving” and asking for more insights, more understanding, more curiosity, to awaken the best path on our journey. Stay warm and well as we approach our shortest days of the year until Solstice next week. Love, Jen Photo: taken last night of the nearly Full Moon in the sky during 'blue hour'. While I do not like it when you cannot see the detail of the Moon in my photos, sometimes you need to step outside of expectation and allow for a new view. For once the bright light of the Moon is high enough, it is very difficult to get the foreground illuminated with such a bright subject. Departing from that rigidity can bring about unexpected beauty. Today the Sun and Saturn will be meeting at the 18th degree in Sagittarius. The Sun, our Ego, our Identity, the part of us that needs to shine to invigorate and energize us. Saturn, the structure of our consciousness, the Wise Elder, the Authority, the Disciplinarian, the last of the visible Planets to the naked eye. When these two meet, things can take on a serious nature. It can be a grounding force. Tipped too far in the Saturn scale, we may feel a heaviness, a burden, a blockage, a limitation. Best optimized, we can use this energy stay the course through life’s challenges, knowing that the wisdom comes from sticking to goal, the eventual mastery that comes from discipline and hard work. Saturn is the master-builder and understands that “Rome was not built in a day”. Also in the mix is Uranus and the Moon. They are meeting up around the 20th degree of Aries. Like Sagittarius, this is another FIRE sign. Uranus rules flashes of insight, the higher mind, individuality and authenticity. As Uranus comes after Saturn in the sky, it breaks down the concrete, desiring to stimulate “breakthroughs” as it asks us to not follow the herd, but rather offer our individual voice. The Moon is our emotional consciousness, our feelings, the Heart. With Uranus and the Moon in Aries, we can feel quickness to our emotions. For Aries is a fast and furious sign whose aim is to be courageous, to have the fearlessness to enter the ring, to experience a victory through jumping in and out of the fire as needed. With Uranus fanning the flames with “flashes” of inspiration, and Aries “jack be nimble, jack be quick, jack jump over the candlestick” kind of movement, we are advised to let the genius within arise. Let the heart feel any breakthroughs, any new ideas, attitudes or emotions. Just be forewarned to not let your emotions explode under this influence. With the Sun and Saturn, flowing with this Moon/Uranus connection, we can keep ourselves grounded. Sagittarius is the seeker of the meaning of life so we can tune in to what that is for us now. Aligning our Head(Sun) with our Heart(Moon), and using the fiery, passionate energy to help us carve a road best suited for our journey. Be well, stay warm, and hugs to all! This means the Moon is not in aspect to any other significant points in the sky. Under this sort of influence, we are advised not to initiate anything new or put energy into anything we want to build upon for it just may go nowhere. This is not always a bad thing, as in life we sometimes do not want whatever we are working on to keep going. Let’s say it is a meeting with our tax attorney. We really desire for the matter to never come up again. This could be a good moment to flush out the details and file your forms.
Under the Void, we may feel confusion and lack of direction. This can be a good time to daydream. We can also and enter the imaginal realm as rational limits are not in effect, or just choose to have a good time. The Moon in Aquarius is fond of being an individual and marching to the beat of its own drum. The archetype of the Rebel, the Genius, and the Inventor comes through, as this sign as it wants to break out of the restrictions and conditioned realities found in the prior sign of Capricorn. It is known for “flashes” of insight and inspiration conjuring up images of lightning bolts and ‘awakenings’. Pay attention to any ideas that may arise or just “hit you”. This evening the Moon will enter the sign of Pisces, leaving its void state. Tonight, pay attention to your dreams, as the Moon may connect you to your unconscious feelings and the unlimited land of imagination. |
