![]() Just shortly after the Moon rises this evening, the Moon will be in 100% illumination or directly opposite the Sun by degree. Not every Full Moon is this way, for it is exactly opposite the Sun on the day of Full Moon, however it could occur in the morning or at any other time that day. Why do we care? Well perhaps we don’t, but it strikes me right off the bat as unique. I always photograph the Full Moon rising and don’t see it becoming exact just after rise very often. This will guarantee 100% illumination at rise, not 99.8% or whatever. Who might care about this? CAPRICORNS! In the theme of Capricorn, it makes perfect sense as Capricorn is about mastery and perfection. It is a beautiful, if not seemingly orchestrated performance for as the Full Moon rises gloriously in the night sky, it is at its most precise opposition. Capricorn couldn’t have planned it any better. Well, in saying that, I see that Pluto will be a degree away from the Full Moon at 18 degrees Capricorn. Whenever Pluto is on the scene, we take a pause. Pluto is not known for frivolity, but rather the nickname ‘Lord of the Underworld’ should start to build some images. This Planet was discovered in the 1930’s when Freud was just starting to talk about the unconscious mind. As above, so below- the psychological breakthroughs of the time seem to mimic the discovery of a Planet that WANTS to get to the core of ROOT of our emotional psychology. In doing so, of course, it must address the dark and the light, the shadow and the sunshine to see the root WHOLE ness. This awareness of truth and acceptance of all parts of self, rather than shame and avoidance, is one way to heal the scars. When left to their own devices these scars may result in a type of Groundhog Day repetition until recognized and integrated. Under a Capricorn Moon, we are looking at how we are responsible, our inner authority, our judgement of self and other, and how we hold that role with ourselves. It can also arise issues with the Father archetype and how we hold that in our lives today. With Pluto in the mix, we kicked it up a notch to delve into the uncomfortable shadowy places to purge that which does not serve us anymore. Pluto- the Great Transformer! In addition, the Sun in Cancer who is ready to squeal and cry if prompted, is hanging out with Mars. Yes, Mars, the God of War. Does this sound treacherous? IT IS. But do not fear, this passion play is where we find the transformation and change that we all crave, as the raw emotions that need to come forward may find themselves at our doorstep right now. LET it OUT, cry, whatever way to just go deeper into what is coming up. If at all possible, stay in the heart, try not to put a story around it all. Just let it flow knowing this is the opportunity to release it. If we look to the ruler of Capricorn, we find Saturn aka the Lord of Karma and Father Time. Currently sitting in Sagittarius, this is the sign of the Gypsy and the Philosopher. Sagittarius thrives in the exploration of ‘life as an unfolding mystery’ with its motto “GO BIG or GO HOME”. Sag pushes the optimistic envelope at all costs. It seeks the truth and the formation of a coalescing strategy that allows it to arrive at some level of understanding. So we may have been asking ourselves questions as of late, that are trying to put the pieces to the puzzle of life together. What do we believe? What do we really stand for? What do we want to build? Saturn is in “retrograde” motion so it is about going within to discover these truths until it goes direct near the eclipse in August. We can allow the big dreams to arise right now, and make plans to enact them starting at the end of August. In preparation, we can clear out any old hurts that need purging under the gift of this FULL Moon. Jupiter in Libra, the ruler of Sagittarius, squares off the SUN and MOON requesting that things be fair and equal, in efforts to keep some semblance of peace. Blowups never seem to get you where you need to go, so try to watch out for what may be bubbling up in you and needs to stay with you and not cast onto the nearest other.
