Libra New Moon

New Moon in Libra 9/23/14 11:14 PST
Balance refers to the midpoint between black and white, good and bad, yin and yang. It is to find that sweet spot which holds the opposites in the perfect harmony. Like being on a see-saw or teeter totter and that moment when each person on either end is not "up" or "down" but hanging in the middle, floating from the weight being equally distributed to either side. This is the objective with Libra, to weigh in right at the middle. It does not want to favor either pole but rather incorporate each energy into the mix equally. This is no easy task. We typically fall somewhere along the spectrum, but rarely right in the "perfect" middle. With the ruler of Libra, Venus, in perfection and detailed oriented Virgo, we may feel pressured to "get it right" and find the exact middle. We may judge ourselves or others for not being completely at center. Like anything else, there is always a shadow potential and with Libra, when one is at that balanced point, they may not want to commit to anything but the middle. "Pick a side already, what are you waiting for?" The opposite sign Aries, says "have some courage".

Venus in Virgo will want the Libra Moon to consider matters related to health and routines. There is always room for improvement concerning our health and how we spend our time daily. How can we bring those aspects of our lives into greater balance? What small step towards improving ourselves could bring rewards that inspire us to continue to bring ourselves into a place of harmony and peace?

Venus is synonymous with love and as humans, we all need love. The band Cloud Cult has a great song called "Breakfast With My Shadow" which has a line in the lyrics "And all the mosquitoes know I love you, Can I love me just as much?". We have an opportunity from the cosmos to bring balanced love and harmony into our relationship with self and other.

At the New Moon, we have a blank slate, an empty canvas that we can find the places a little out of balance in our lives and set our intentions. If there is an area of your life you want to balance out, first accept the disharmony, don't shame it or push it away. For as humans we are always growing and becoming. Through recognizing where we may have gotten off track, we can make a correction which starts to bring us to a place of greater peace and love.
