New Moon in Taurus April 26th, 2017 5:17 AM The New Moon births tomorrow in Taurus at 6 degrees, 27 minutes. Taurus is the Naturalist and the first sign in the element of Earth. With Taurus, we unite with the body and the essence of sensory experience. As we breathe into these vessels of skin and bones, we align with the gravity of our physical being. The body response clues us in to what makes us feel calm and secure, safe and peaceful. Eating, sleeping and replenishing this body system, keeps the mind and emotions balanced. Following the rhythms of the body keeps us flowing in unison with the world we live in. Do I need to rest? What is the body asking for? This New Moon does not interact with a lot of other Planets, however if we look to the ruler of Taurus, Venus, we find some activity. Venus is in the last degrees of Pisces, 29 degrees. Venus was at this degree on Feb 2, and then revisited that point on April 3rd during retrograde. After moving in forward motion, she has come across this last degree of Pisces for the last time in 18 months. Thinking back to those dates, are similar themes arising in you now around what you value and what you can let go of? If you opened up your imagination to unlimited possibility, what is it that you want to create? This last degree of Pisces is also the last degree of the entire zodiac, so an ending or final release may be felt during this New Moon. Pisces honors that which we don’t see physically. In the element of water, it is the last water sign as it has moved from liquid water in Cancer to ice in Scorpio. Now in Pisces, the water is evaporating, or becoming steam as it forms a misty effervescence that connects with that which lies beyond our physical grasp. Imagination, intuition, empathy, compassion all come from this source. Pisces connects with the world of Spirit, letting go of our rational mind and entering the world of the infinite, with no separation. Venus asks us to reflect on what can be released, and also provides the opportunity to connect with something greater, something beyond time and space, and something timeless. Venus has been in tense relationship with Saturn, Grandfather Time, who is in Sagittarius. Saturn is the Taskmaster, the Master Builder, the Disciplinarian rooted in Earth, creating and overseeing structures. In Sagittarius, it is seeking the truth and meaning of it all, which is an expansive vision. Sagittarius is the Philosopher and the Optimist, so although there is a tension and pressure between Venus and Saturn, there is some commonality in seeking higher truths. Saturn will not be happy to just pontificate about the meaning of life, it wants to make something of it- bring forth something physical. Venus in Pisces will not see things so hard lined as it merges and dissolves boundaries that Saturn is trying to construct. Confusing? Sure, that can be the nature of form and formlessness trying to integrate. So what really matters to you? If you had to pack 3 books to take on that journey, which ones would they be? What would you pack in your suitcase? Who would be invited if anyone to go with you? As a practice to harness this New Moon energy, all of these questions should arise from the body, not the mind. Taurus asks you to breathe in yourself, slow down and see what surfaces. Ground in, plant your seeds and let the universe know what is in your heart. Much love and gratitude, Jen
